Description

The Most Touched Fixture in Your Bathroom

A towel bar is reached for multiple times every day — to hang a towel after a shower, to retrieve it before one. This frequency of contact makes it one of the finest canvases in a bathroom for an unlacquered brass living finish. Every reach, every brush of a hand, every drift of bathroom steam contributes to a patina that develops faster and more beautifully on a towel bar than on almost any other bathroom fixture.

This solid brass towel bar is made entirely in our Marrakesh workshop — the bar itself, the curved arm brackets, and the round backplates, all cast and finished by hand from the same 100% solid unlacquered brass. It arrives bright and warm gold. Within weeks, the areas your hands touch most begin to soften and deepen. Within months, the bar has settled into a rich amber tone that makes a travertine, marble, or stone bathroom feel like it has been designed rather than assembled.

The Round Bracket — A Detail That Matters

The bracket is the detail that separates a well-made towel bar from a standard one. Our brackets are round — a solid brass disc with a curved arm that projects the bar away from the wall, leaving enough space for a full-size bath towel to hang freely and dry properly. The backplate is fastened with two exposed brass screws — visible in our close-up photography — which is the honest, traditional approach to wall-mounting hardware: no hidden fittings, no plastic anchors behind a chrome plate, just solid brass screws that will outlast the wall.

As you can see in Image 3, the connection between the curved arm bracket and the bar itself is a solid brass collar with a single securing screw. This collar is what allows the bar to be removed for cleaning or replacement without disturbing the wall fixings. It is a simple, correct detail — the kind that craftsmen who work with their hands understand instinctively.

Where It Belongs

Our product photography shows this towel bar installed in two contexts that represent the range of where it works best:

Travertine and warm stone (Images 1 and 3): Warm stone — travertine, limestone, sandstone — and unlacquered brass are natural companions. Both are warm-toned, both improve with age, and both read as materials with genuine geological or metallurgical history. A brass towel bar against travertine does not look like an accessory. It looks like it belongs.

Rough-cut stone tile (Image 2): The same bar against a rougher, more rustic stone tile — the kind used in hammams, riad bathrooms, and outdoor showers across North Africa. Here the living finish brass reads as even more at home: warm, heavy, handmade, exactly right for a space that prioritises authenticity over polish.

Care Instructions

Daily: No maintenance needed. The towel bar develops its patina naturally from daily contact and bathroom humidity.

Weekly: Wipe with a dry or lightly damp cloth. This prevents any soap or product residue from building up on the bar surface.

Monthly (optional): A paste of lemon juice and baking soda applied gently, rinsed thoroughly, and dried restores brightness if preferred. The living finish returns naturally over the following weeks.

What to embrace: The slightly deeper tone that develops at the centre of the bar — where towels hang most frequently. The warmth that accumulates at the bracket arm where your hand brushes when adjusting a towel. These are the living finish working exactly as it should.

Frequently Asked Questions

What lengths are available?
We offer 40cm, 50cm, 60cm, and 80cm standard lengths. Custom lengths are available — contact us with your requirements before ordering. We can make bars to any length within our workshop's standard range.

Can I install this on tile without cracking it?
Yes — with the correct approach. Use a carbide or diamond tile drill bit to drill the fixing holes, insert wall plugs appropriate for your tile and wall type, and fasten with the included brass screws. We recommend having a tiler or experienced handyman install on porcelain or very hard stone tile. Full installation guidance is included.

Will this match my unlacquered brass faucet?
Yes. Every piece in our collection is made from the same solid unlacquered brass alloy in the same Marrakesh workshop. The towel bar, faucets, hooks, and accessories all age together naturally, developing a cohesive patina across your entire bathroom.

How far does the bar project from the wall?
The curved arm bracket projects the bar approximately 65mm from the wall surface — enough space for a folded bath towel to hang freely and air-dry properly without pressing against the wall.

Is this suitable for a wet room or shower area?
The bar itself is solid brass and will not corrode in a wet environment. However, we recommend installing it outside the direct shower spray zone — not because of the brass, but because towels hung in constant spray will not dry effectively. As a grab rail inside a shower enclosure, the bar is perfectly suited.
